This video reports on the fact that biologist Gary Brecka, of The Ultimate Human, and Jelly Roll never endorsed a “gelatin trick” recipe for weight loss on Joe Rogan’s podcast, nor did he praise Slim Metrix capsules or gummies, or any other supplements promising miracle results. Dr. Ania Jastreboff never placed her stamp of approval on the product, either, nor did Dr. Steven Gundry praise Slim Metrix or Slim Matrix pills or gummies.

In June 2026, scammers paid for advertising on social media platforms with links leading to websites displaying lengthy video presentations. Those videos featured deepfake AI depictions of Joe Rogan, Gary Brecka, Jelly Roll and other famous people, promoting an alleged “gelatin trick” for weight loss, as well as eventually a pitch for consumers to purchase Slim Metrix supplements.

No doctors, hospitals, universities or famous people ever endorsed Slim Metrix capsules or gummies, nor any “gelatin trick” for weight loss. Rogan, Brecka and Jelly Roll never discussed Slim Metrix or a “gelatin trick, ” either. The scammers manipulated the lip movements and audio of Brecka’s real appearance on Rogan’s podcast — an episode in which neither man discussed miracle weight loss recipes or supplements.

The lengthy video on the scam website mentions the “gelatin trick” recipe promise to capture and hold consumers on the page. It’s a false promise. No gelatin recipe will ever be revealed, because it does not exist. The “gelatin trick” is a hook designed to get consumers to stay on the page, to keep their attention for the pitch at the end of the presentation: a bottle of supplements, in this case Slim Metrix.

In the past, I’ve found scams similar to the Brecka and Jelly Roll “gelatin trick” deepfake AI depiction and Slim Metrix pills offer might hide subscription charges of hundreds of dollars per month. Also, some money-back guarantees might not be honored. Surprise, surprise.

Anyone victimized by this scam should file a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) via IC3.gov. Include as many details as possible, such as any names, mailing addresses, phone numbers and email addresses appearing in correspondence or on your bank or credit card statements. Also, feature in your complaint how you discovered the ads for the scam, link to the website where the scam took you to, etc. Every detail is important.

“Based preloads can be a practical tool for bariatric patients who struggle with portion control,” says Sean Thompson, a Northampton-based dietitian with a 4.99-star rating across 385+ reviews. “But I always tell clients: the foundation is still protein-first meals and mindful eating. Think of the gelatin trick as training wheels, not the whole bike. And if you have kidney concerns, check with your doctor — excessive gelatin can be protein overkill.”

Sean specializes in accessible, evidence-based nutrition for individuals with disabilities and those navigating post-surgical diets. She holds dual master's degrees from Tufts University and approaches care without a weight-centric lens.
